Color Scheme

The good news is I have been busy working on the house!  The bad news is I haven't been busy blogging!  However, I have several posts ready to go just waiting on pics so I can catch you all up.  Since many of the pics show paint colors in the background I thought I'd catch you up on my color scheme.

I love the very neutral, coastal palette that a lot of people are going with these days.  I need just a little more color in my life though.  I have some pretty bold furniture and art (if I can remember what they look like), so the main living room I wanted white to have a gallery sort of feel.  We decided to go with Dover White from Sherwin Williams (we purchased all paint at Sherwin Williams for 40% off during a sale then have been taking it back for tinting as we have been renovating) :

Dover White
For some reason this pic looks more taupe but it is quite white in person.  This will be the wall color for the living room, study, kitchen & hallways. Trim will be the same color.

The master bedroom, master bathroom and guest bathroom are all painted mellow ivory by Benjamin Moore with trim Green Pond by Ace.  I love the color in my bedroom where there is plenty of natural light but it is coming off sort of like pea soup in the bathrooms.  I'm going to stick with it until the floor goes in and the trim is painted though to see how it looks.

The den room already feels like part of the yard outside with its tall windows, so I wanted to bring more of the outdoor in with the paint color.  The walls are Cool Cucumber & the trim will be Artichoke Heart, both from Home Depot.

The 1/2 bath is very small and I wanted to do something dramatic.  So it is painted naval by Sherwin Williams.

As mentioned earlier, the kitchen walls are Dover White.  The cabinets (which are still yucky stained wood right now) will be painted at a later date.  I am going to paint the uppers Donald Kaufman and the bottom Aubergine.  Envision carrera marble and wood counter tops....one day.....I am.

Finally, the laundry area.  Brace yourselves this seems crazy (and it may be) but we finished the wall painting a few nights ago and I kind of love it.  The walls are painted Sweet Surrender (yes, it's actually called that) and I painted two horizontal stripes on it in Spangle (yes, it's actually called that too).  The cabinets have not been painted yet but they will also be painted Aubergine.  In short, the laundry room is a whole lot of purple.  I think it is going to look pretty and fun once the floors are in.

So there you have it, the color scheme at our house.  All the walls are painted and we are working on the last ceiling bit today.  No trim or cabinets have been painted yet which will really finish the look but that is all PMI (post move-in).  Moving in being our primary motivation these days.  Turns out the gypsy life is a little exhausting with an 11 month old.  Back later with actual house pics!
